Police investigate robbery incidents at downtown banks

ROCKFORD – Investigators with the Rockford Police Department are investigating two robbery incidents that occurred Monday afternoon at two downtown banks.
According to police, at 2 p.m., the first person walked into the bank walked into BMO Harris Bank on South Main Street and demanded money. The suspect did not display a weapon, and no money was taken.
Officers were called to Illinois Bank & Trust on West State Street at 3:45 p.m. There, police say a suspect entered the bank, demanded money and was able to flee with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect did not display a weapon.
Whether police believe the two incidents are related is not known.
No injuries were reported.
