Police search for suspect in Rockford bank robbery

ROCKFORD — Rockford Police detectives and the FBI are searching for single suspect they say robbed a bank on the southeast side of the city Tuesday.

Shortly after 3 p.m., investigators responded to Associated Bank at 4400 Center Terrace. Witnesses told officers a male suspect entered the bank and presented a note to one of the tellers.  The note implied the suspect had a weapon, although none was displayed, and demanded money. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 40s. He is approximately 6-1, 250 pounds and was wearing a hat, sunglasses, gray hooded sweatshirt and something similar to a white surgical mask on the lower portion of his face. He was also wearing gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rockford Police Investigations Bureau at 779-500-6551, Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867, or the local office of the FBI. R.
