Outages planned for County phone lines, Jan. 15
ROCKFORD — Winnebago County said Thursday that, as part of a planned upgrade of its voice and internet service lines, a telephone outage is scheduled for its departments, Monday, Jan. 15.
The outage could last up to 8 hours, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The county says it has set up alternate networks for various departments, including the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Corrections, Coroner, Animal Services, Juvenile Detention Center, and River Bluff Nursing Home facilities.
Temporary phone numbers have been established for those departments in anticipation of the blackout:

Animal Services East of the Rock River: 779-548-0798
Animal Services West of the Rock River: 779-548-0907
Juvenile Detention Center: 779-548-0928
River Bluff Nursing Home: 779-548-0913
After 4 p.m. all Winnebago County phone services will be restored and the temporary numbers will be discontinued. Other county offices are scheduled to be closed for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday.
