Man wanted in 2013 Rockford homicide surrenders

ROCKFORD — A man wanted in a 2013 fatal shooting has surrendered to authorities.

Johny L. McFadden, 25, turned himself in at the Winnebago County Criminal Justice Center on Tuesday, Jan. 23. He is charged with first-degree murder.

McFadden was wanted in the 2013 shooting death of 27-year-old Rockford resident Semarin Dubois. Dubois was killed Thursday, July 4, 2013, near the intersection of South Henrietta Avenue and Green Street.




Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced charges against McFadden Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018.  A first-degree murder indictment was also issued for 28-year-old Shazariyah F. Hibbett, of Rockford.

McFadden is lodged in the Winnebago County Jail on $3 million bond. He is due in court Feb. 1.

Hibbett is still at large.
