Our City, Our Story and The Rock River Times

ROCKFORD — The Rock River Times is happy to announce that we will be bringing the tales from local videographer Pablo Korona to the pages of our paper.

Since 2012, Korona has used his camera to capture the images and words of the Rockford community. The “Our City, Our Story” series paints a landscape of life in Rockford often missed in our pages and in coverage of our city abroad.

“We refuse to believe that a single story defines a community,” says the Our City, Our Story mission statement. “To ignore our complexity robs us of our dignity. We tell stories that connect, inspire, and have unexpected perspectives.”

Now, we will bring you those stories in our print pages and online. And we invite you to go back through the archives and see some of the wonderful stories already told by Korona, at ourcityourstory.com.

And be sure to check out the new “Our City, Our Story: Live” series, which kicks off this Saturday at the Nordlof Center, 118 N. Main St.

OCOS: Live will feature the on-film subjects of the OCOS series in a live setting, telling their stories and talking with the audience about their experiences.

A cash bar provided by Prairie Street Brewhouse will be available for the premiere event, 7:30-9 p.m. Feb. 17.

Our City, Our Story: Live is made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.

And look in upcoming issues on Page 5 or visit our website for more installments from the Our City, Our Story series. R.
