ROCKFORD — The Rockford Police Department used an armored vehicle to surround two suspects they say were involved in a shooting last weekend.

The incident unfolded Saturday, March 24, when officers responded to an address in the 100 block of Broadway and located a man who had been shot in the leg. Officers obtained a description of two suspects and a black Audi.

The Audi was located at a residence in the 500 block of North Day Street shortly after the shooting. Officers surrounded the residence and were able to make contact with the suspects, who surrendered without incident.

Taken into custody were Ariel Galindo, 32; and Alex Salgado, 25, both of Rockford. Both men have been charged with home invasion and aggravated battery with a firearm and are lodged in the Winnebago County Jail without bond.

Multiple firearms were recovered from the residence. R.
