ROCKFORD — A Rockford woman suffered minor injuries after police say she was attacked by a man while walking her dog in the 1300 block of Rockton Avenue early Tuesday morning.

Police say the woman was walking her dog at 4:38 a.m., when she was approached by a heavyset black man with a full beard, in his mid 40s. He was approximately 5-11, and was wearing a black baseball cap, red shirt, and black shorts.

The woman said the man’s right hand was wrapped in a cloth or bandage and that he hit her with an unknown object.

No money or property was stolen; police are investigating whether it was a random attack or if the woman knew the suspect. R.
