17-year-old, 12-year-old arrested in break-in at Rockford auto business

ROCKFORD – A 17-year-old and 12-year-old face criminal charges after police say they broke into a Rockford business and caused thousands of dollars in damages.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Sunday, July 8, Rockford Police officers were called by a security company to State Line Auto Parts, 1000 Lee Street, for a potential burglary in progress. The owner of the business also responded.




The teens, both males, were taken to the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center. They are charged with burglary, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and criminal damage to property.

Detectives are currently investigating whether this case is connected to other incidents at the same business. R.
