ROCKFORD – A Rockford man was arrested on a handful of charges Thursday, after police say he was in possession of drugs and an illegal firearm.

Drake A. Stewart, 36, was arrested by Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies during a narcotics investigation in the area of 22nd Street and Ninth Avenue. Police say when Stewart was arrested he had a loaded handgun and various amounts of crack cocaine and heroin in his vehicle.

Stewart with armed violence, unlawful use of weapons by a felon, possession with intent to deliver 1-15 grams of cocaine and possession with intent to deliver 1-15 grams of heroin.

Stewart is lodged in the Winnebago County Jail without bond. His first court date is pending. R.
