High School Football Week 8: Hononegah remains unbeaten; Boylan and Harlem roll

ROCKFORD – The Hononegah Indians, Boylan Titans and Harlem Huskies on Friday proved why they are the top football teams in the NIC-10 Conference.
Hononegah rolled over Jefferson 49-6. Christian Gomez rambled for 139 yards on 16 carries for the Indians.
The Titans ran for 300 yards against East, en route to a 40-6 win. Boylan is 7-1 on the year with its only loss coming to Hononegah in Week 4.
Harlem’s only loss this year came in Week 5 against the Titans. The Huskies improved to 7-1 Friday with a 34-7 route of the Auburn Knights. Sophomore quarterback James Cooper Jr. went 6-for-14 for 74 yards and two touchdowns for the Huskies. Cooper now has 20 touchdown passes on the year, a new Harlem single-school record.
Harlem visits Hononegah Friday, Oct. 19. Boylan ends the regular season at Jefferson.
In other NIC-10 games, Belvidere squeaked by Guilford 26-24. Belvidere North clipped Freeport 10-6. R.
