HUNTLEY – Rockford East topped McHenry Tuesday in a wild opener to its IHSA Class 3A boys soccer regional run.

The E-Rabs outscored the Warriors, 5-3, in the Huntley regional in what was considered a mild upset. East is the No. 9 seed in the sectional and McHenry was the No. 8 seed.

The E-Rabs scored the final four goals of the game to advance to Saturday’s regional title game. East, which improved to 15-6-1 and is having its best season since 1987, will play the top-seeded Elgin Maroons.

The Maroons are an impressive 15-1-3 after beating South Elgin, 4-0, Tuesday. The title game will begin at 10 a.m. R.
