Murder suspect in custody
61-year-old victim found inside home

ROCKFORD – A Rockford man is behind bars in a fatal stabbing that occurred Sunday night on the city’s northeast side.
Jerry Saylor, 46, was taken into custody Monday morning. He’s been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 61-year-old man who was stabbed multiple times inside a home in the 3500 block of Fawnridge Drive.
Rockford Police Public Information Officer Christie Castillo said officers were called to the home around 9 p.m. in response to a fight. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
Additional charges against Saylor are possible. He is lodged in the Winnebago County Jail on a $5 million bond. He’s scheduled to make his first court appearance at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30. R.
