CherryVale Mall closed until Thursday amid frigid temperatures

Staff Report

CHERRY VALLEY – CherryVale Mall closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday because of inclement weather and will reopen at noon Thursday, Jan. 31.

Mall spokesmen say hours may vary for stores and restaurants with exterior entrance on Thursday and customers are encouraged to call head. Upates will be made on the CherryVale Mall Facebook page and its website.

The announcement comes as much of stateline prepares for potentially life-threatening temperatures. Rockford’s weather calls for a high of -25 overnight with a high of 14 below zero Wednesday. Wind chills could dip to as low as -50.

The U.S. Postal Service said it will not deliver mail in parts of the Midwest Wednesday because of the cold.

The bitter cold is the result of a split in the polar vortex that allowed temperatures to plunge much further south in North America than normal. R.
