Ninth Street homicide victim identified

ROCKFORD — The victim of a homicide in the 3200 block of Ninth Street has been identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Lindsey.

Lindsey was pronounced dead at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16. She’d been shot. A second victim, Katelyn Lindsey, was transported to the hospital and treated for critical injuries. Her current condition has not been released.

Detectives with the Rockford Police Department identified 37-year-old Abdon Ochoa-Villaneda as a suspect following the shooting and tracked him to Clinton County, Missouri. He was taken into custody shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday after a high-speed chase.

Details of the shooting remain unclear. However, police say Ochoa-Villaneda knew the victims.

Ochoa-Villaneda has been charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. He is lodged in the Clinton County Jail awaiting extradition to Rockford. His bond in Winnebago County has been set at $5 million. R.
