Police arrest armed robbery suspect

ROCKFORD – A man wanted in an armed robbery is now in custody, police announced Monday, Feb. 4.

Quintin Beasley, 54, was arrested Saturday. He was wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred shortly before 5 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Walgreen’s, 2323 Charles St.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were told a suspect, armed with a knife, threatened a

42-year-old female employee and demanded money from the register. The suspect then fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was not hurt.

Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation and

identified Beasley as a suspect and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.

At approximately 9 p.m. Saturday, March 2, SCOPE officers located Beasley walking on Wills Avenue near 11th Street and took him into custody without incident. He’s been charged with armed robbery.

Beasley is being held without bail in the Winnebago County Jail. His first court date is pending. R.
