Police search for suspect in attempted robbery at Rockford Subway

ROCKFORD – Investigators with the Rockford Police Department are searching for a man they say attempted to rob a Subway Tuesday night.

Shortly before 7 p.m., officers responded to the Subway at 3313 11th St. in reference to a possible armed
robbery. Police spokesmen say a man entered the restaurant and placed an order. He then implied he had a weapon and announced his intention to rob the restaurant. The employee ran from the suspect, who fled without taking anything.

No one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 50 years old. Police say he’s 5-6 and 250 pounds. He was wearing light colored coat and a black stocking hat.
