ROCKFORD — The shooting death of a man at a Rockford apartment complex is being investigated as a homicide.

At around 9:40 p.m., Winnebago County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Great Oaks Apartments in the 4800 block of Linden Road.

Deputies located 19-year-old Jaime Gonzalez, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Gonzalez was transported to Saint Anthony Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:25 p.m.

The death is being investigated as a homicide.
