ROCKFORD — The owner of the Polish Deli, 3002 Charles St., was arrested Monday.

Arkadiusz Podczaski, 29, is charged with possession with intent to deliver cannabis, an allegation that stems from a months-long investigation of reports that he was selling marijuana to patrons and students from nearby schools.

Detectives served a search warrant at Podczaski’s business Monday, March 11 and found cannabis and at least one scale to measure the cannabis. Police say Podczaski attempted to flee but was taken into custody without further incident.

Rockford City building inspectors and health department personnel inspected the property, and the deli was condemned for building code and health code violations.

Was booked into the Winnebago County Jail. He made his first court appearance this afternoon. R.
