Stage set for Rockford St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Downtown traffic will be re-routed.

ROCKFORD — The Irish Marching Society’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16, downtown.

Traffic will be impacted during the event.

The parade will begin at Seventh Street and Fourth Avenue and proceed north on Seventh to East State Street.  From there, the procession will travel west to Madison Street to the Prairie Street Brewhouse, the location of  PaddyFest.

Street closures will begin one hour before the parade, and smaller streets that intersect the route will also be closed during that time

Police traffic control on arterial streets such as Second, Third, Sixth and Seventh will allow traffic to
cross periodically, but traffic is urged to find alternate routes.

The Rockford Icehogs will be at the BMO Harris Bank Center Saturday night. Drivers are advised to give themselves a few extra minutes to get to their destinations. R.
