Man arrested after robbery at downtown Dollar Tree

ROCKFORD — A Rockford man is in custody in a robbery that occurred at a downtown discount store.
A around 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, Rockford officers responded to a report of a robbery at Dollar Tree, 526 E. Jefferson St. Police say the suspect approached the cashier, implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The suspect then fled with a small amount of cash.
Officers located the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Charles Hill, walking east on Jefferson Street and arrested him without incident. Hill is charged with aggravated robbery and and retail theft.
No injuries were reported.
Hill is being held without bond in the Winnebago County Jail. He’s scheduled for court on April 25. R.
