Woman jailed after stabbing incident

ROCKFORD — A Rockford woman was jailed Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a man during a domestic dispute.

Police say officers responded to the scene at around 8 p.m., and located the 51-year-old victim suffering from a non life-threatening stab wound to the stomach. He was treated at local hospital.

Officers learned the victim and suspect, identified as 44-year-old Corina Pignato, had a domestic relationship and got into an argument before the stabbing occurred.

The suspect stayed at the scene was taken into custody. She’s been charged with aggravated battery with a knife and aggravated domestic battery.

Pignato is being held without bond in the Winnebago County Jail. She’s due in court this afternoon. R.
