ROCKFORD — One person is dead after police say he was stabbed at a west Rockford park Friday night.

At 9:45 p.m., members of the Rockford Fire Department and officers from the Rockford Park District Police and Rockford Police departments responded to Fairgrounds Park, 450 Kilburn Ave., after receiving a report of a man down. Upon arrival, crews found a man in his late 30s suffering from multiple stab wounds inside the park’s gazebo.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name is not being
released at this time.

Police have not said whether they have identified a suspect.
