Man wanted in Rockford home invasion

ROCKFORD — A man is wanted for allegedly breaking into a home occupied by his ex-girlfriend and stabbing another man in the hand, police reported Monday.

Police say at around 1 a.m., Sunday, Rockford officers responded to the 1000 block of Benton Street after receiving a report of a possible stabbing.

There, they spoke to a 35-year-old man who suffered a cut to his hand after another man forced his way into the home and a struggle ensued. Police say the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s 32-year-old girlfriend, who, along with her three children, were inside the residence when the incident occurred.

The victim refused medical treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect fled the scene. Although his name has not been released, he is described as a black man between 35 and 40 years old, 6-0, 220 pounds. Anyone with information should contact Rockford Police at 815-966- 2900 or Rockford Area Crime Stoppers at 815-963-7867.
