Police seize drugs, $150K; Rockford man jailed

ROCKFORD –  A Rockford man was arrested after police seized cash, guns and illegal drugs from a home on the city’s east side.

Ricky Williams, 35, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of weapons by a felon. He was arrested May 15, after the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at 748 Gabriela Court. During the search, detectives seized a semi-automatic rifle, a handgun, numerous pills and cash. Rockford detectives and with the Illinois State Police recovered more than $150,000 during traffic stops on vehicles as part of the investigation.

Police Chief Dan O’Shea said Williams’ arrest was the result of tips from the public.

“I want to commend the citizens for providing us the initial information so we could locate,
investigate and arrest one more drug dealer,” O’Shea said.“Our continued partnerships with the citizens of Rockford is paying off, and together we are making Rockford a safer city.”

Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are possible. Williams has posted a $7,500 bond is due in court June 14.
