Three arrested for allegedly assaulting security guard at Rockford housing complex

ROCKFORD – Three people were arrested for allegedly assaulting two private security guards at an apartment complex on the city’s west side.
Police say at around 5 p.m., Monday, May 20, patrol officers responded to a local hospital in reference to two battery victims. The victims, a 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, attempted to make a drug arrest at Auburn Auburn Manor Apartments when they were attacked by a group of seven to 10 suspects, both male and female. Both men were treated for minor injuries.
When officers responded the apartment building, they were able to locate one of the suspects, 28-year-old Rockford resident Porscha Gilmore, who was taken into custody without incident. She’s charged with aggravated battery to a private security officer and mob action.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department’s Gang Unit identified 23-year-old Damonte Jones and Johnnell Turner, 20, both of Rockford, as suspects, and warrants were issued for their arrests.
Shortly before 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, officers located Turner at the corner of West State and Avon streets and arrested him without incident during a traffic stop. Jones was arrested an hour later by the Gang Unit at a residence in the 700 block of North Sunset.
Jones and Turner are charged with aggravated battery to a private security officer and mob action. They are being held $10,000 bonds and are due in court June 18. Gilmore is being held without bond is and scheduled to appear in court June 14.
