ROCKFORD – The Landing Skatepark is now open inside Davis Park, downtown.

The skate park is the Rockford Park District’s fourth skateboarding facility. It officially opened at 1 p.m., Friday, June 21, in conjunction with Go Skateboarding Day, which takes place across the nation and celebrates the athleticism, creativity, and the action sport’s influence.

The park comes to downtown following the success of Bing Liu’s Oscar-nominated documentary “Minding the Gap,” a story about three Rockford friends and their love of skateboarding.

Davis Park is at 320 S. Wyman St., Rockford.
