Police investigate Rockford gun offenses

ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department is investigating two separate incidents involving  firearms that occurred over the weekend.

At around 3:45 a.m., Monday, a 30-year-old man told officers he was unloading a truck at Beef-A-Roo, 3401 S. Alpine Road, when he was approached by an armed suspect, who demanded merchandise and his belongings. The suspect then fled with his wallet and phone. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6-0, 200 pounds, in his mid 20s. He was wearing a white or gray windbreaker.

Police say at around 3:40 a.m., Sunday, a 26-year-old man was shot at a large party in the 2100 block of Olgilby Road. The man later walked into a Rockford hospital and met with officers but was not cooperative. His injuries were not life threatening.
