ROCKFORD – Ten People were arrested Sunday during an undercover prostitution operation.

Police say seven vehicles were impounded, substances believed to be heroin and cocaine were found on one suspect, and a loaded handgun was recovered from another.

Arrested: Jose Melendez, 40, of Rockford, solicitation of a sexual act; Joseph Thang, 44, of Rockford, solicitation of a sexual act; Yvonne Norwood, 33, of Rockford, solicitation of a sexual act, driving while suspended; William Mclemore, 57, of Rockford, solicitation of a sexual act, possession of a controlled substance, and possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance; John Ettner, 45, of Marengo, Illinois, solicitation of a sexual act; Vidal Moreno, 48, of Rockford, solicitation of a sexual act, domestic battery; Volney McGhee Jr., 25, of Rockford, solicitation of a sexual act, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon; Charles Williams, 33, of Rockford, solicitation of a sexual act; Darnell Holliman, 42, of Loves Park, solicitation of a sexual act; and Ko Reh, 43, of Rockford, solicitation of a sexual act.

Sunday’s sting is part of the Rockford Police Department’s end-demand approach to combating the street-level commercial sex trade.
