ROCKFORD – One person was shot early Sunday while attending a party on the city’s near-east side. 

shortly after 4:15 a.m., Rockford patrol officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1600
block of 4th Avenue. While en route, they learned a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest walked into a local hospital.

Police say the victim was outside at a party in the 1600 block of 4th Avenue when a vehicle pulled up and shots were fired. His injuries were not life threatening.
