Rockford man sentenced to prison for domestic violence

ROCKFORD – A Rockford man was sentenced to a total of 28 years in prison for domestic battery, Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross announced Monday.
Marcisheo B. Moore, 33, received a sentenced to 20 years for aggravated domestic battery and 8 years for domestic battery. The sentences will run concurrently. Moore found guilty last June after a jury trial in front of Judge Randy Wilt.
On Jan. 16, 2016, Rockford officers responded to the 900 block of Kent Street in reference to a domestic battery complaint. Officers met with a woman who reported she had been attacked by Moore. Police observed face and neck injuries as well as numerous bruises, abrasions and scrapes on the victim. She was treated at a local hospital.
During a follow-up investigation detectives learned that Moore grabbed and strangled the woman to the point where she could no longer breathe. Moore also struck her all over her body with a metal broom.
