Women charged in Cherry Valley stabbing

ROCKFORD – Two women were jailed Thursday after a woman was stabbed in Cherry Valley. 

Police say at approximately 12:15 p.m.,  Thursday, Rockford patrol officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Cherry Street and located a 19-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital. Her injuries were not life threatening.

“Several females got into an argument with the victim,”  Rockford Police Public Information Officer Christie Castillo said in a release. “One of them pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.”

One of the suspects, identified as 21-year-old Rockford resident Aaliyah Jones, was also stabbed and walked into a local hospital as officers were investigating. Her injuries were also not life threatening.

Jones and another woman, Kornella Brack, were both taken into custody.

Jones is charged with aggravated battery with a knife and mob action. Brack, 18, of Rockford, is charged with mob action. Jones being held without bond in the Winnebago County Jail. She’s due in court Friday. 

A photo of Jones was not available as of this report. Records show she is due in court Sept. 5 in an unrelated criminal case.
