Rockford garbage collection delayed

ROCKFORD – Garbage collection for Rockford residents on Thursday, Nov. 28, will be delayed one day because of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Residents who normally have garbage pickup on Thursday will have it picked up on Friday. Yard waste will continue to be accepted during the week of Thanksgiving with the final collection date occurring on Dec. 5.

The Household Hazardous Waste site, 3333 Kishwaukee St.,  will be open its normal hours: Saturday, Nov. 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 1, from noon to 4 p.m.

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful’s Rockford Recycling Center, 4665 Hydraulic Road in Rockford, will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 30.  Normal operating hours will resume the following week on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon for electronic waste and other household recycling drop offs.  Visit knib.org for a list of services.
