ROCKFORD – Longtime Winnebago County Recorder Kenneth Staaf died Thursday, Dec. 19. He was 80.

Staaf served as recorder of deeds for 16 years before retiring in 2008. He also worked in TV as a weatherman, anchor and WIFR program director in the 1970s. He was a Rockford native and a graduate of East High School.
