Rockford man wanted in 2019 sexual assault

UPDATE: Michael Rodriguez, who was wanted on a warrant, is now in custody following an ongoing investigation by the Rockford Police Department’s Sensitive Crimes Unit. He was arrested Saturday afternoon.

ROCKFORD –  A Rockford man is wanted after an investigation of a sexual assault that occurred last year.

Michael Rodriguez, 32, is charged with aggravated kidnapping, unlawful restraint and residential burglary. Authorities say the allegations stem from an indecent that unfolded Sept. 25, 2019. That’s when Rockford officers responded to a local hospital learned an adult female victim was sexually assaulted at a residence, located in the 1100 block South Sixth Street. 

Detectives from Rockford’s Sensitive Crimes Unit conducted a follow-up investigation and Rodriguez was identified as a suspect. Police say Rodriguez and the victim knew each other.
