Rockford Urological physicians elected to Board of Winnebago County Medical Society

ROCKFORD – Rockford Urological Associates’ physicians Drs. Douglas P. Roegner and Christopher Whelan have been elected to the board of the Winnebago County Medical Society.

Board members are elected for two year terms. Whelan is the organization’s immediate past president and has served on the board since 2014. Dr. Roegner was elected to his first term on the board.

Roegner practices general urology with a special interest in the treatment of benign prostatic enlargement and kidney stone disease. He received his bachelor’s degree from Augustana College and his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He completed a surgical internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and a tour as a Battalion Surgeon with the U.S. Marines in California. He completed his residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Whelan earned his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College and his medical degree from SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. He completed a kidney cancer research fellowship at SIU and a two-year urologic cancer and robotic fellowship at City of Hope, a world-renowned robotic surgery and cancer research center in California.

Rockford Urological Associates concentrates on diagnosis and treatment of all urological problems for both adult and pediatric care. They are highly skilled in the use of new technological innovations that allow for a greater rate of success with less patient discomfort. Their staff includes nine highly experienced physicians and they are affiliated with several of the area’s finest hospitals.
