ROCKFORD – A Rockford man was jailed Friday after a gun was allegedly found in his car during a traffic stop.

March 13, officers with the Rockford Police Department located 23-year-old Darionte Hallom operating a vehicle in the 1900 block of West Pearl Street. As officers approached Hallom, they observed a loaded handgun on his lap. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police say Hallom has a valid Illinois FOID but not a concealed carry permit. He’s charged with unlawful use of a weapon and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
