'Remote-only' beginning Wednesday

Staff Report

ROCKFORD – The Rockford Public Library, beginning Wednesday, March 18, will close its branches and offer remote-only services until the end of the month in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Full services will continue to be offered at all RPL locations through 8PM, Tuesday, March 17, 2020 including voting for precincts scheduled at both the East and Rockton Centre Branches,” the library said in news release.

All events and classes will be canceled as of Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

Officials say staff will continue to report to work and will be available to provide telephone and email services.

Expired Rockford Public Library cards may be renewed by calling any RPL location. Material holds will be honored.

Eligible borrowed materials will be renewed according to RPL’s automatic renewal process.

Patrons are encouraged to return borrowed materials to any RPL branch location through external walk-up/drive-up
receptacles.

The renewal of material loans can also be achieved by calling any RPL location or by visiting rockfordpubliclibrary.org and following the prompts.
