Rockford Park District announces golf course openings
Staff Report
ROCKFORD – Local golf courses owned by the Rockford District will open for the season starting May 1.
Aldeen Golf Club, Elliot Golf Course and Sinnissippi Golf Course will open May 1. Sandy Hollow will open May 6 while Ingersoll gets going May 11.
Under guidelines under Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order extension that will be in effect through May 30, the 6-foot social distancing rule will be enforced at all courses. Players are limited to twosomes, carts allowed only for those with disabilities, and practice greens will be closed.
Other Restrictions
- Tee times must be booked online or over the phone.
- Fifteen minutes between tee times instead of 12 to minimize congregation at tee boxes.
- No handshaking.
- Cups will be elevated so players do not have to put their hands inside holes to retrieve balls.
- Clubhouses and concession stands will be closed.
“We want people to enjoy their neighborhood park as finding ways to enjoy life has never been more important,” Rockford Park District Executive Directors Jay Sandine said regarding using district amenities during the staty-at-home edict.
