ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department is asking for help from the public to locate a suspect they say broke into a west-side auto parts store Tuesday night.

At around approximately 9:07 p.m., officers responded to an alarm at Advanced Auto Parts, 3019 Auburn St., and discovered someone smashed the glass front door. Police say the man gained entry, stole various items, and left the store.

The suspect was identified as a black male wearing a white shirt, black hat, blue jean shorts and white sneakers. Surveillance cameras captured him fleeing the scene.
