Rockford performer releases new signature ukulele

From Matt Taylor

He manages one of the fastest growing ukulele channels on YouTube. He has over 36 million videos views and more than 430,000 subscribers, that it’s no wonder that he’s been recognized by his followers on the streets.

And yet, if you’re not a part of the ukulele world, the chances are that you’ve never heard of Rockford resident Matt Taylor – or U Can Uke, as he is known.

Since May 2017, Taylor has been the man behind UCU—offering free weekly tutorials and song covers for those looking to try their hand at playing the ukulele. On November 21st, Taylor will be offering something new that he’s always dreamed of having…a UCU signature ukulele.

Slovenia-based ukulele brand, “Flight Music” partnered with Taylor to make this signature ukulele idea happen. What’s even more unique about this model is the story about its design.

Earlier this year, Flight and I held a design contest. We invited followers to submit a design that could be applied to my UCU ukulele. I thought it would be a great way to give back and celebrate U Can Uke’s success with my audience. Honestly, the channel wouldn’t be where it is today without their support.”

After reviewing all the submissions, Taylor and Flight chose a picture that centered around cacti and mountains. It struck a chord with Taylor especially because he grew up in the scenic desert of Arizona.

I’m excited about this ukulele. It helps me reminisce where I’ve come from and reminds me of how far the channel has gone. I’m also glad that one of my followers can take ownership of its design and will receive a free copy of it.”

The TUC-UCU signature ukulele will be available for purchase via Amazon and music stores worldwide. Interested retailers may call Hal Leonard at 1-800-554-0626 for more information on this ukulele.
