ROCKFORD — The man found dead on a frozen portion of the Rock River yesterday has been identified.

The body of Brent Decker, 41, of Rockford, was spotted at around 8 a.m., Wednesday, by a Rockford Park District employee who was salting the bike path near Whitman Street Bridge.

Police say Decker was fully clothed, and appeared to have jumped off the bridge. A cause of death is not yet known. Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz said results of toxicology tests will be available in two weeks. The case remains under investigation. R.
