Rockford Police car strikes pedestrian on West State

ROCKFORD — A marked Rockford Police Department squad car struck a woman walking along West State Street, the department said in a statement.

RPD says that at around 8:05 p.m. Tuesday night, the squad car struck the pedestrian in the 2900 block of West State. A female victim was taken to the hospital with what the department called “non-life threatening” injuries.




The officer driving the car was transporting a subject to a local hospital when the incident occurred. That subject was also transported to the hospital. The officer, who was not named, was not injured in the collision.

RPD says its Accident Reconstruction team is investigating the incident. West State Street was reopened to traffic at around 11 p.m. R.
