Second suspect arrested in 2013 homicide

ROCKFORD — Both men wanted in connection with a 2013 fatal shooting are now lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.

Friday, Feb.2, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force located Shazariyah Hibbett, 28, in an apartment in the 5700 block of Forest Hills Road. He was taken into custody without incident.

Johny L. McFadden, 25, turned himself in at the Winnebago County Criminal Justice Center Tuesday, Jan. 23. Both men are charged with first-degree murder in the 2013 shooting death of 27-year-old Rockford resident Semarin Dubois. Dubois was killed July 4, 2013, near the intersection of South Henrietta Avenue and Green Street.




Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced charges against Hibbett and McFadden Thursday, Jan. 11. They are being held on a $3 million bond. R.
