New charges filed in criminal investigation

ROCKFORD – A Rockford man faces new charges linked to several crimes in the city.

On Sept. 1, Rockford Police officers arrested 28-year-old Jawan Robinson-Jones for aggravated battery to a senior citizen and attempted robbery for an incident that occurred earlier that day in the 1200 block of Seventh Street.

Upon further investigation by detectives with the Violent Crime Unit, and a review by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, Robinson-Jones was served new charges on Sept. 12, while already in custody at the Winnebago County Jail.  He is charged with burglary to Goodwill, 4618 East State St., an incident police say occurred Sept. 1.

Robinson-Jones was also charged with armed robbery for a robbery at the Kwik Mart (1203 7th Street) on Aug. 14 incident that happened at the Kwik Mart at 1203 Seventh Street. He is being held on a $600,000 bond. R.
