Two Rockford Police officers receive awards, six promoted during ceremony

ROCKFORD – The Rockford Police Department will honor two officers with awards and promote six others to new positions Friday, Nov. 9, during a ceremony at Police District 3 headquarters, 557 South New
Towne Drive.

Officer Kathryn Kubik will receive the Letter of Commendation. Over the past two years, Kubik has volunteered in various street-level operations. Without reservation, Officer Kubik has worked details that can often be dangerous and challenging.

Her dedication has contributed to successful operations that better the City of Rockford.

Officer Bryce Davis will be awarded a Medal of Lifesaving for an incident on Aug.26, when a approached him with her one-year-old infant, who was choking and not breathing. Davis was able to dislodge an object from the child, saving the infant’s life thanks to his quick actions and training.

Six officers will also receive promotions within the Rockford Police Department. Officers Robby Hatfield and Michael Fitzgerald will be promoted to investigators. Detectives Apostolos Sarantopoulos and Mark Jimenez will be promoted to sergeants. Sgts. Robert Reffett and Ty Eagleson will be promoted lieutenants.
