Heart disease workshop at U of I Extension Feb. 5, 12

Staff Report

ROCKFORD –  It can be a challenge for those planning to shop or cook for someone with heart disease or work towards preventing heart disease themselves.

To help meet these challenges, University of Illinois Extension will offer a two-part workshop, designed for anyone interested in preventing or managing heart disease. During each session, participants will learn how lifestyle factors impact the risk and management of heart disease. Receive recipes, watch cooking demonstrations, and learn about heart healthy eating, and physical activities to better care for their health.

Meals for a Healthy Heart will be held from 1 – 3:30 p.m., Feb. 5 and Feb. 12 at the Winnebago County Extension office, 1040 N. Second St., Rockford.

To register, call the U of I Extension  815-986-4357 or visit them at web.extension.illinois.edu/jsw/. Registration is a $20, which covers participation in both sessions, handouts and educational materials. Registration deadline is Feb. 1. R.
