ROCKFORD — Jennifer Lindsey, the 42-year-old Rockford woman killed last weekend in the 3200 block of Ninth Street, died from blunt force trauma, the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office reported Tuesday.

It was initially reported that Lindsey had been shot.

Lindsey was pronounced dead at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16. A second victim, Katelyn Lindsey, was transported to the hospital and treated for critical injuries. Her current condition has not been released.

Detectives with the Rockford Police Department identified 37-year-old Abdon Ochoa-Villaneda as a suspect following the shooting and tracked him to Clinton County, Missouri. He was taken into custody shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday after a high-speed chase.

Details of the shooting remain unclear. However, police say Ochoa-Villaneda knew the victims.

Ochoa-Villaneda has been charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. He is lodged in the Clinton County Jail awaiting extradition to Rockford. His bond in Winnebago County has been set at $5 million. R.
