U.S. Marshals deputy shot serving warrant at Rockford hotel

ROCKFORD — A deputy with the U.S. Marshals Service has been shot at the Extended Stay America Hotel, 747 N. Bell School Road.
Authorities say the shooting occurred at around 9 a.m., Thursday.
U.S. Marshals Spokeswoman Belkis Cantor Sandoval says the officer was on duty and working with a regional task force when the shooting occurred. They were attempting to arrest 39-year-old Floyd Brown, of Springfield.
Police say after opening fire on the marshals, Brown fled the area in a gray or silver Mercury Grand Marquis with a Illinois license plate number of BFI3112. Brown is believed to be armed and dangerous.
