Cargo expansion at Rockford airport creates 500 new jobs

ROCKFORD — Rockford International Airport RFD) officials announced Wednesday that 500 jobs are now available through a local company.
The entry-jobs are available through Pinnacle Logistics, a provider of trucking and aviation services across the United States. They include forklift drivers, cargo handlers, team leaders, managers and supervisors. Permanent and seasonal jobs are available. Pay starts at $14 an hour.
“We knew our cargo growth would produce more jobs in 2019 and this is just the beginning,” said RFD Executive Director Mike Dunn in a news release.
The announcement comes a month after aviation repair firm AAR announced it was laying off 80 people this June.
Airport officials also announced Wednesday that RFD has received a $9 million grant for construction project that will add a new apron.
