SwedishAmerican to operate county wellness center

Staff Report

ROCKFORD – SwedishAmerican Hospital has been been awarded a contract with Winnebago County to operate its onsite health and wellness center.

The employer-sponsored health care facility, located at 526 W. State Street in Rockford, provides health care to 2,335 eligible county employees and their dependents. Operating since 2013, the center will open as a SwedishAmerican facility on July 1.

“We are very excited for this new opportunity and proud to begin a partnership with Winnebago County,” SwedishAmerican President and CEO Dr. Michael Born said. “This employer-based medical home model has proven to be very successful for us in the past, as it allows us to deliver unique and personalized care to employees and dependents.”

This is SwedishAmerican’s third employer-sponsored health care facility to open in three years. SwedishAmerican opened the Woodward Health Center, 2473 McFarland Road, in 2016 for employees and dependents at Woodward, Inc. In January, SwedishAmerican opened Partners Health Center (2601 N. Main Street, Rockford), which offers health care to six participating companies in the region.

The clinic will feature two medical providers and care for patients of all ages. In addition, pre-employment and Department of Transportation screenings will be performed on site.

“We are very excited to work with SwedishAmerican,” Winnebago County Administrator Carla Paschal said. “They have been very professional and attentive during the transition. We are very proud to offer our employees expanded and personalized wellness services in a time of budget challenges for the County.”

Services offered at Winnebago County Health and Wellness Center include acute care, wellness care, laboratory, care coordination and navigation, health education classes, health coaching, immunization, pre-employment physicals, and workplace health services,
